"Squidland is more like my personal blog rather than a squad blog." been thinking about this ever since after my 2nd or 3rd post in chinese, and after a few others brought it up too.
Squidland initially started out as a shared blog, with irregular posts by 2 or 3 authors, contents ranged from announcements of squad gatherings to emo pics with just-as-emo captions, to the series of S.O.F.T (the now "fEAtUREd SQUid"), aimed at recollection and reminiscing with the rest of squadmates readers. Of late (or not so late actually), active authors has reduced to a soloist, thus contents posted naturally inclined towards the happenings & thoughts of my life, and less of the squad as a whole. Such was the perspectives garnered from the readers.
However, I must disclaim that I dun hav even in the least intention, to monopolize Squidland and convert it to a personal blog, to allow the exhibition of my writings.
To me, since squidland is a shared blog, anyone can post for everyone to read (we have a common a/c is a squid , whose username n password has been published but 2bad no one has time to use it =( ) The initial motivation which sparked off my first chinese post was all in the name of sharing. The response on tagboard was what that spurred me onto penning further posts.
but too bad, the no. of tags nosedived alongside with the economic downturn =(. that didnt affect me from giving up on writing, since the initial intention was to share, not to generate tags.
so i continued to post, till i realised i had a greater intention behind the consistence in postings - to keep this blog alive and active. this blog belongs to every1 of us, so it belongs to me too. n i hate to my things left unattended and uncared for. much as like a pot of bonsai will wither without regular grooming, or a child who will go astray without the daily guidance from its parents, a blog without regular posts & visits will be lost in the net or our memories. maybe will still haf some random rattles n complains on the tagboard tt goes nagging "wah y so long no one blog!!! go post leh!" but no one wants tt, right?
so i dun like to leave things like tt. therefore u dun see me succumbing to peer pressure & get a friendster or facebook account. i know i wun have the discipline to update it, so might as well dun create. yep, sure, u can tell me "just create n leave it there la" but i dun like to leave things there u see... if i remain as an inactive member for long, lesser people will visit it frequently isnt it? so the same theory applies to Squidland. only with regular posts will people reciprocate with regular visits.
i dont know wah zit like for you, but for me, when theres sth new in Squidland i'll feel freaking happy la. i look forward to this contentment, so i visit Squidland whenever i can, as in seriously: go home -> on monitor -> login -> sign in messenger -> internet explorer -> squidmates.blogspot [Ctrl+Enter]
i'll still continue to post so long as sth inspires me. peiyi once told me she wanted to post one, but she already has her own blog so she said she dont want to repeat everything again. to me, there's bound to be sth different that i want to share with certain select groups of people (other than posts n pics of our own respective gatherings) i have 2 blogs, both are shared blogs in fact, and the posts i authored are radically different from Squidland. haha but peiyi dun ged me wrong ah i'm not trying to blame u nor make u feel guilty for not posting. i respect ur decision. and this is definitely not a post to lambast any1 for not posting. theres really no point in forcing a post out of any1 postings should b self-motivated, and of coz when u have the luxury of time.
i think Squidland is happy as it is right now, although i really look forward to more people sharing. besides having fun times together whenever we meet up, i also wanna know that my fellow sqdmates are doing great out there in their individual disciplines. it's just some voice from within that gives me some sort of consolation whenever i know my sqdmate is doing fine leading a happy life. maybe it's the magic of a 7years sqdmates bond. 我想,换成是小五时坐在第五行第二排的轩我才懒得去理会他过得好不好咧。
who post or how many tags isnt where my priority stands. the guys have told me they still visit Squidland every now and then, just that they dun tag. (in a friendly debate with weiliang in which i propose he shld tag to let me know that he came by, he rebutted with an analogy - that a murderer who doesnt leave evidence behind doesnt not equate to his innocence)
ah! so long as i know that im not talking to imaginary friends. i know u guys will read one right...
this isnt a personal blog so i'll include excerpts from any random sqdmate's blog:
"...and according to the squids i kind of 'graced' their outing hur!!! HEY SQUIDS PLEASE DO NOT SAY TT I SHY I WILL GO FOR MORE OUTINGS OKAYOKAY!but seriously time flies i think i havent met them for close to a year already yet everyth felt so familiar and it was even kind of comfortable hanging out with them. happy times on swing night pictures eating hongkongfoood and terrorisin 3 huge fish in glen's hse. what to do.. 7 years friends. haha! squidmates4life yaw." http://rabeccat.blogspot.com/
